Tonight I will dream, of far off places green...
Traveling on tracks, never looking back...
Eyes pointed ahead, seeing things- before only read...
A cache or two, for me and for you...
Hand in hand, through forests, across the sand...
The adventures we'd reap, if only in sleep...

Cache #50 - I Earned This One!

Tucson Art 10--4th Avenue was a dangerous feat...despite its 1 1/2 terrain rating, two geocachers limped away blindly, nearly defeated trying to get this cache...

1st attempt
February 2nd, RodneyENM and I decided to try to cache after lunch at Delectables on 4th Avenue and to visit with one of our ole' muggle buddies, Justin.  The hunt took us behind PLUSH in the parking lot.  We must have looked for 20 minutes before giving up.  We had no tools, just our smart phones and opted to come back another time.

2nd attempt
Let's fast forward to Saturday, February 26th.  RodneyENM had been out in the elements; caching and making stops.  First we went tothe Rincon Valley Farmers Market for produce and then off to do other errands.  Lunch took us to El Guero Canelo for some mexican hot dogs-- FYI this is a MUST when visiting Tucson.  We ended up back in the neighborhood of  Tucson Art 10--4th Avenue
and decided to take another shot at the prize!  After nearly an hour of Macguyer tactics which included the destruction of a purse, we left empty handed once again.  Why did we give up?  We were ill-equipped.  We were without the elusive tool needed to get this cache.  Oh yeah, and I got a black eye.  I was sitting on a curbing searching and didn't realize how close I was to the open car door.  I got up and blue metal met my cheek bone right under my right eye.  I instantly started swelling and we had to pack up and head straight for a bag of peas at Safeway

We didnt give up completely, I did see the cache, but I won't say where, and we made one more stop on the way home.  We picked up tools at Harbor Freight and vowed to go back down to the cache after dinner that night and claim our prize.

3rd and FINAL attempt
Showered, fed, and much worse for the wear, Rodney ENM and I made our way back downtown with new tools in tow to get this cache.  We parked and walked over to the cache site.  Muggles everywhere, we ducked and dodged and tried to act cool.  Less than five feet from the cache, Rodney twists her ankle!  WTF!  SchnauzerQueen has a black eye, RodneyENM is limping.  Is this cache really worth it?  This is now a matter of principal.  Practically a vendetta!

After a few attempt of working around obstructions, and the help of our handy tool, this micro was ours after the 3rd attempt.  It was a long day, and I feel as though I earned cache #50.  There are no pics, as we do not want to give away what we worked so hard to obtain.

I look like Cindy Lou Who at this angle.

Do this cache, beware of car doors and watch your step.  While you are on 4th Avenue, grab some food, soak in some sunshine, enjoy the nightlife.  I love Tucson.  End of story.

Frogs, Bugs, Yoyos...OH MY!

So, I got done with work too late to get a cache in on my way home...
I decided to swing into the dollar store just for fun...
$12.98 later...I walk out with this stuff...what childless 31 year old woman do you know with no kids' parties in the future has any business buying a bunch of silly plastic toys?????

Look!  I found little compasses!

That would be me.  I love geocaching, the kiddie caches make me giggle... whats it to ya?

Queen of micros...thank God for good eyesight...

Bring on the micros and nanos...  I can spot those things a mile away blind-folded!  Don't believe me?  Let's try it!  Just don't set me up for tripping over a curb or to stumble into some cactus...there will be no fun at my expense as I show off my super-human powers...
Geocaching takes you to the strangest places, never before have I intentionally wound up in alleys and fished around dumpsters and barbed wire...

So I have been caching for nearly 3 months now.  I got a slow start, but lately I have literally had to keep myself focused and force myself to leave the iPhone in the back seat of the car during work hours so I don't get off course...
Thanks to caches like this, I am constantly testing nuts and bolts to see if they give, and plotting and planning my first cache.  This one is soooo cute I just wanna take it home, like a little puppy dog! I know, I know I am not allowed...

I haven't had the opportunity to challenge myself with more than traditional caches that are 1 or 2 difficulty/terrain.  I hope to do a few more challenging caches by the end of the month.
PinkAries found this one after lunch downtown a few weeks back.  A fitting find for someone with such a "magnetic" personality!  Muggles everywhere and we just played it off like we lost a contact...lol

Officially Addicted

Ok, I just got done logging cache number 42.  I will now consider geocaching my hobby, and quite frankly, my livelihood...nothing like a little "me time" to keep me grounded!
On my way home today, although tired and exhausted from helping a friend move, I had to stop and get a couple caches.  It was overcast, windy, and kept trying to rain...
